The job of a flight attendant is fascinating to a lot of people. It’s the opposite of a 9-5, there are so many things about it that are completely curious and unique about it, and it can seem as if the specifics are shrouded by protocols and the like.
Flight attendant Ally Rae Case is here to give us all a peek behind the curtain, though, and honestly, I think you’re going to love her as much as I do.
She uses her TikTok to answer questions about what it’s like to be a flight attendant, and also to share a few trade secrets here and there.
For example, hotels are free while she’s working, and no, she doesn’t even have to share a room.
It’s not all sunshine and roses, though – flight attendants do only get paid once the boarding door is closed.
All of the time they spend getting you seated, stowing your luggage, waiting for you to deplane, and cleaning up is all un-paid.
Not everyone is best friends (or wants to be), but the crew does often hang out together during layovers.
It’s like everywhere else – you probably click more with some of your coworkers than others.
I think I was most surprised to learn that they eat airplane food!
One of the best perks, if you ask me, is that their domestic flights are totally free – and they only have to pay the taxes on international fare.
They can bring one other person along for the free fare, too!
Other interesting tidbits: they don’t have regular “routes” or work with the same team with any regularity.
Also, they could make up to five trips during a single shift!
Bonus material includes tips and tricks on staying safe and clean in the hotel rooms you use along the way. First, make sure to keep your dirty laundry separate from the clean, putting the ice bucket bag over the remote before you touch it, and checking the entire room for intruders before settling in.
Millions of people are loving Ally’s videos, and I’m betting that if you start watching, you’re not going to be able to stop!
Go ahead and ask her a few questions – you know you’ve still got them!
