There are too many stories on Reddit, and elsewhere on the internet, in which people don’t stand up for their spouses when they should – and some when they do stand up for people whom they definitely should not.
It’s refreshing, then, to read this tale about a man whose wife has a lovely voice, and who he loves to hear singing around the house – especially to their young child.
When his mother got evicted (reason unknown), his wife invited her to stay while she found a new place – and that’s when the trouble started.
Mom deemed her daughter-in-law’s choice of song “inappropriate.”
Spoiler alert: none of these songs are inappropriate.
His wife came to him and said the complaints were making her uncomfortable. He spoke to his mother (like an adult!) and thought that would be the end of it.
Spoiler alert: it was not.
This time, he was not so calm and measured in speaking to his mother. He threw her out, stating she could stay with his brother or at a rental property.
Now, the mother and the brother (for reasons you can guess) are upset with him.
The commenters applaud OP (original poster) for taking a stand, and point out that his mother got herself kicked out by pushing the issue.
Some people felt a bit sorry for the brother, but definitely not for the mom.
People also pointed out that people sing all kinds of songs to their littles, and regardless of content, they’re not sexual unless the singer (or weird grandma) makes them that way.
The French thing was just giving people giggles.
Music is music, people, and music is good!
Do you agree with these people that OP deserves a pat on the back?
