How Your TV Works…in Really, Really Slow Motion

If you’re not already following The Slow Mo Guys on YouTube, go ahead and do that. The channel is full of fascinating videos of – you guessed it – all kinds of stuff happening in slow motion. Here’s a fun video of the guys trying to pop a huge water balloon.

Now they’ve turned their attention to one of the objects we all hold near and dear to our hearts: our televisions.

The Slow Mo Guys used an old TV to demonstrate how we’re not actually watching moving images, but a bunch of still images that are shown to us very, very quickly in rapid succession. The guys also explain how color appears on our TV screens. It’s pretty interesting stuff, considering how much time a lot of us waste in front of the boob tube.
