Let’s cut the BS: we all want to look good so we can impress people when we’re out and about, right?
Darn right!
And some of us can use all the help we can get…yes, I’m looking in the mirror right now…
What are some underrated ways you can improve your appearance?
Here’s what AskReddit users had to say.
1. Do it!
“Standing up straight.
Or at the very least with some sort of upright gait.”
2. Get it right.
“Figuring out clothes you actually look good in.
Figuring out your exact size of clothes in certain brands.”
3. Beard life.
“A lot of guys with beards don’t trim them.
I cringe at old pictures of myself before I knew how.
Treat your beard like a bonsai tree.”
4. Very important.
“Sleep is one of your greatest superpowers.
Easily the best thing you can do for your mind and body is get enough sleep if you don’t already. Better than dieting, exercising, meditating, reading more books, watching less TV, etc.
Of course all those things are good and you should continue to do them or start doing some of them, but fixing your sleep habits has relatively high gains in comparison.”
5. Ladies…
“Wearing a properly fitted bra.
Go for a proper fitting.
A lot of women are wearing the wrong size bra.”
6. Good move.
“Not a joke. Quit drinking.
I’ve lost so much weight and I glow, no joke
No hangovers, less worries.”
7. Definitely.
“It is underrated how exercise and diet can change your face shape.
I have lost about 50lbs in the pandemic.
To me, my body still looks as large as ever, but my face has slimmed out and I feel like I look like myself now.”
8. The great outdoors.
“Going for walks every day.
Walking outdoors is great for your health, and generally healthier = improved appearance. Walking is a good form of exercise, and doing it outdoors daily can help ensure that you’re not lacking vitamin D while also giving you a bit of a warm sun-kissed look.
I’ve started going on anywhere from 1 to 3 walks (20-60mins each) with my baby in her stroller every day. I’ve started to lose weight, I feel healthier, I have a nice tan going on, and my hair looks amazing (natural dark blond is now a pretty medium-blond thanks to hair photobleaching).
Just don’t forget your sunscreen, skin damage does not end up looking nice (I put a liberal amount on me and my baby daily).”
9. It works.
“Stylish glasses.
A lot of fashion- challenged dudes wear the same style of glasses they’ve worn since middle school even if they’ve updated the prescription.”
10. Very attractive.
“Calmness.
A man/woman/person who is hygienic, well put together, and remains calm without giving off a condescending impression radiates confident, competence, and positive vibes.
That type of energy is very attractive.”
11. Hygiene, people!
“Floss your teeth so it doesn’t smell like a raccoon d**d in your mouth.
Shower daily, wear deodorant, wear clean clothes, and do your hair.”
12. Put some thought into it.
“Putting even just a bit more thought into your daily outfits.
Wearing different things that are mostly flattering, even if it was just adding a bandanna, bracelet, and wearing colors that look good together, can improve self confidence and make you stand out just a smidge more.
It gives a more put together look and people will be more willing and likely to notice you. Self expression is attractive.”
