The Wonder Years (the original one) is one of my favorite TV shows of all time and I honestly don’t think that show ever declined in quality during its six seasons.
The kids in the show grew up but the writers and producers didn’t seem to miss a beat as they transitioned into young adulthood and I think the later seasons are just as good as the early ones.
And that finale: oh man, get out a box of Kleenex if you ever decide to watch it.
What TV show do you think never declined in quality?
Check out what folks said about this on AskReddit.
1. A legend.
“The Joy of Painting
RIP Bob Ross.
You can actually see him get better through the episodes.
He was never a master at painting he was a master at explaining how to paint to the Average Joe.”
2. Classic.
“Breaking Bad.
Literally the only show I’ve watched where every season is better than the last.”
3. You can hear the theme song.
“The Twilight Zone. The original series.
My favorite series of all time.
I’ve seen all the episodes numerous times and even though I know the ending is coming, I still get goosebumps on quite a few of them because it’s always so powerful.”
4. The real deal.
“This Old House.
My dad would watch this when I was a kid.
I’d complain and say how lame it was, but d**n if I didn’t end up sitting there and watching the whole thing every time.
Just a real show.”
5. Exactly how they wanted it.
The Good Place.
The writers knew exactly what they wanted to do it, they did it, and didn’t linger any longer even though it was surely successful enough that they could’ve gotten more seasons if they’d wanted to milk it.”
6. Family show.
“Malcolm in the Middle stayed pretty tried and true.
That last season got pretty dark but it was still good.”
7. From the ’70s.
“MASH.
Some people h**ed it when Alan Alda got more control over it and did things like stop making Margaret a laughingstock, but I thought it remained great throughout.”
8. Stuck the landing.
“Schitt’s Creek.
Have not seen a show grow so much, and call it right at its peak.
They really stuck the landing.”
9. Don’t even mess with it.
“The Golden Girls.
Every once in a while I try and think of how a Golden Girls reboot could happen, or the same type of concept at least.
It makes me feel a little sad because I really can’t imagine a show like that ever being greenlit again, and I can’t imagine a set of actresses that would fit so well those roles.”
10. Great show.
“Six Feet Under.
One of the best shows I’ve ever seen, and definitely has the best series finale.”
11. A fan favorite.
“King of the Hill.
The thing is when i was a child, i thought it was boring.
But as an adult I have to say it’s nearly a masterpiece.”
12. People love it!
“What We Do in the Shadows.
Stellar from start to end. I think there are new seasons coming out.
But it’s fabulous.”
13. Quality stuff.
“It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia.
Sure an episode or two in a season might not be as hysterical as the others but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every season as a whole.”
14. LOL.
“Keeping Up With The Kardashians
It maintained a standard.
It was always absolute horse s**t from the start and never improved.”
