12 People Share Mysteries That Should Have Been Solved by Now

One mystery that really captured my imagination a while ago is the story of D.B. Cooper.

Who was he? Did he survive his jump from an airplane with a bunch of cash?

If you’re not familiar with the story, you should look it up, it’s pretty fascinating.

Now let’s check out the mysteries that folks on AskReddit think should have been solved by now.

1. Maddy Scott.

“Maddy Scott.

A lot of us are fairly sure that she’s no longer alive, but someone knows something about her disappearance.

All of those people at the party her before she went missing and nobody knows anything?”

2. Scary stuff.

“The Tylenol M**ders.

That story with no suspects after all these years is nuts.

Hard to believe Tylenol as a brand was able to come back after that.”

3. What are the details…?

“What happened to Natalie Holloway?

We’re about 99.9% certain Joran van der Sloot did it… But what was “it”?”

4. Vanished.

“The vanishing of Xavier Dupont de ligones.

K**led his whole family in Nantes, drove to south of France, withdraw some cash and is seen on the ATM camera and that’s it.”

5. Three big ones.

“The boy in the box.

Was Charles Lindbergh involved somehow in the kidnapping of his son?

Who is the Long Island Serial K**ler?”

6. A lot going on down there.

“The mysteries of the deep ocean.

We know about the likes of the Deep Sea Angularfish and Colossal Squid, but it’s probably just a fraction of what else is lurking down there.”

7. Poor little girl.

“Asha Degree.

I feel like if they cared enough to test the backpack thoroughly for fingerprints and DNA they would find the perpetrator.

I think about that poor little girl all the time.”

8. A terrible night.

“The Las Vegas shooter’s motive.

I remember in one of the leaked pictures of the hotel room there was a piece of paper with some writing on it.

Was that ever released?”

9. Incompetence.

“The Reykjavik confessions.

I’ll cut some slack because crime isn’t common in Iceland, but it’s one of the worst cases of police incompetence I’ve ever seen.”

10. Disaster.

“The MS Estonia diaster.

Not sure if it’s can be called a “unsolved mystery” but the government of Sweden is definitely hiding something shady about it. The way the handled it has been a s**tshow.

My grandma was on board and didn’t survive.”

11. Horrifying.

“The West Mesa M**ders are the k**lings of 11 women whose remains were found buried in 2009 in the desert on the West Mesa of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Several suspects have been named, but none were arrested or charged, and a serial k**ler was believed to be responsible.”

12. Anybody out there?

“If we’re alone in the universe.

There’s an entire argument for it called the Fermi Paradox.

Essentially the argument is: with the extremely vast number of stars in the universe, and the number of habitable planets that must orbit them, it seems incredibly unlikely that someone wouldn’t have found us already, or at the very least, we would have stumbled upon evidence of them.

All it would take is 1 civilization in our galaxy to create self-replicating probes (that mine materials to replicate themselves) to fill the galaxy in relatively short time.”
