When we go to the movies, the last thing we want is to come out totally confused.
Ok, maybe that’s not the worst thing that could leave a bad taste in your mouth, but I feel like it’s totally up there. We pay our money, the very least we expect is to be able to follow the plot.
These 13 movies were total failures, though, because people say they still have no idea what was going on.
13. The Shape of Water
Definitely left you with a “what did I just watch?” feeling.
12. Donnie Darko
I mean, just look at that poster? I have no idea what’s going on!
11. Annihilation
Just watch Ex Machina instead. That was really great and tight science fiction.
10. Tenet
A movie where even the actors admitted they had no idea what was going on.
9. The Star Wars Holiday Special
I’m honestly not sure this was supposed to make sense.
8. Mother
I think “confusing” is Aronofsky’s jam, to be honest.
7. 2001: A Space Odyssey
I honestly think I could have done without that glimpse into Kubrick’s mind.
6. Cloud Atlas
Seriously, if anyone could explain this one to me, I would be thrilled.
5. Primer
The tagline is funny, because it doesn’t actually work.
4. The Tree of Life
Maybe it would make more sense with some time…but I kind of doubt it.
3. The Neon Demon
I’ve never heard of this one, and I’m guessing there’s a reason why.
2. Jacob’s Ladder
I never saw this one and honestly, the picture is freaking me out.
1. Pirates of the Caribbean
It’s like one giant acid trip, and lots of people are into it.
I’ve seen a few of these and I definitely agree. As a writer, I cannot stand poor plotting!
