13 People Talk About Celebrity Downfalls That Actually Made Them Feel Bad

I think we can all agree that not every celebrity who gets canceled or falls out of favor with the public deserves it.

In fact, some of the stories are downright tragic.

AskReddit users shared their thoughts about the celebrity downfalls that actually made them feel bad.

1. A great actor.

“River Phoenix.

Feel so bad for him, especially Joaquin Phoenix who saw him in his last moments and his 911 call even got leaked for the public to hear how helpless he’d been.

Poor guy. He just wanted to save his brother. They were the closest siblings among the Phoenix family.”

2. Could have been different.

“Brittany Murphy.

‘What Happened, Brittany Murphy?’ on HBO shook me for weeks after seeing it. I had no clue she was being exploited and controlled by a psychopath fraud husband. Incredibly sad.

Her life would have been so different if she had people who looked out for her.”

3. Doomed.

“Lindsay Lohan.

She actually really has a ton of talent but who could grow up with those parents plus be a child actor and NOT have a huge downfall?

She was doomed from the start.”

4. Breakdown.

“Britney Spears.

She was having a mental breakdown and the whole world was beating her further down at the time it was sad to watch.”

5. Disappointing.

“Jake Lloyd, I was reading into what happened to him after watching ‘Jingle all the Way’ and recognising him as a young Anakin Skywalker.

Apparently Hollywood and the Star Wars franchise in particular, really got to him, and he wound up being diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.

It’s a shame learning of these unfortunate stories concerning child actors; you can’t help but want to root for them, but the reality of their situation is often disappointing.”

6. Former child actor.

“Corey Haim.

Per allegations, he was so**mized on the set of Lucas at age 14.

The Coreys, in general, tried to warn everyone about the rampant p**ophilia in Hollywood, and they were made to look crazy.”

7. Poor young man.

“Jonathan Brandis.

It was a shame that when he d**d it wasn’t talked about much. I enjoyed his movies growing up.

I would’ve loved for him to open up about his experience in Hollywood.”

8. A victim.

“Amanda Bynes.

Child actor downfalls are sad because they’re victims of their environment and s**tty parents.”

9. Paranoia.

“Shelley Duvall.

Just finished watching a video by The Right Opinion about Dr. Phil. I had no idea Shelley was ever on the show, but even the clips are extremely hard to watch.

She was clearly paranoid and all the show did was heighten her paranoia.”

10. Finally making a comeback.

“Brendan Fraser.

He was s**ually a**aulted, tried to bring it to light, and Hollywood cast him out for it.

Couldn’t get acting roles for many years.”

11. Tragedy.

“Robin Williams.

I have a mother with dementia and it’s terrifying and soul crushing to watch someone you love forget activities they used to love.

Me and my sister have prepared for the worse but that doesn’t make it any easier.”

12. Awful.

“Judith Barsi.

She did the voice of Duckie in The Land Before Time and Anne-Marie in All Dogs Go to Heaven.

She was heavily a**sed by her dad and was ultimately k**led by him at age 10 through a g**shot to her head while she was sleeping.”

13. Blown out of proportion.

“Janet Jackson.

It’s such a shame. She was is one of the greatest pop artists ever. Rhythm Nation is one of the best albums ever. The songs are still bangers today.

Her run from the mid 1980s through the early 2000s was amazing.”
