Sure, there are songs that you love that aren’t other people’s cup of tea and vice versa, but it turns out that large numbers of people actually agree on something – and it’s the most universally annoying songs in rock and roll history.
Here’s a list combined from Rolling Stone and the New York Post, and my apologies in advance if you spend the rest of the day humming any of these.
#15. “Macarena” by Los Del Rio.
I’m embarrassed to admit I danced to this in college.
#14. “Don’t Worry Be Happy” by Bobby McFerrin.
Who told him this was a good idea?
#13. “Mambo No 5” by Lou Bega.
The definition of a good bad song.
#12. “The Thong Song” by Sisqo.
Terrible.
#11. “Rock the Boat” by Hues Corporation.
A little unexpected but valid.
#10. “We Built This City” by Starship.
They built some seriously addictive chorus, is what they did.
#9. “One Week” by Barenaked Ladies.
Okay so you’re saying I wasted all of those hours memorizing the lyrics?
#8. “Photograph” by Nickelback.
All you had to say was “by Nickelback” really.
#7. “You’re Beautiful” by James Blunt.
The only thing worse is the video.
#6. “Believe” by Cher.
Retirement should have come a bit earlier.
#5. “My Humps” by The Black Eyed Peas.
Worst ever.
#4. “Who Let The Dogs Out” by Baha Men.
I think we can all agree on this one.
#3. “Take My Breath Away” by Berlin.
No matter how many movies they put this in, I’m never going to like it.
#2. “Wannabe” by The Spice Girls.
The ballad of a generation. Ha!
#1. “Party All the Time” by Eddie Murphy.
Stick to acting, my friend.
Quick, go listen to some good music to cleanse your palate!
