Transformers have been around since the 1980s, which could be one of the reasons there are still television shows and movies and toys are still big business today.
All of us 80s babies are now grown up, and many of us are parents, so we’re happy (thrilled) to share our love of everything Transformers with our kids.
That said, I don’t think many of us are going to spring for a $700 today for little people who are more than likely going to play with it too hard to keep it nice.
That said, you could always buy something nice for yourself…
If you love Transformers and you’re totally into cool toys that are just for adults, you’re going to love this $700, self-transforming Optimus Prime from Hasbro and Robosen Robotics.
They revealed the robot at Hasbro Pulse Fan Fest and described the collectible as “the world’s most advanced and programmable toy robot ever made,” as the Optimus Prime can walk, drive, punch, and transform given voice or mobile app commands.
It took 5,000 components, 60 microchips, and 27 servo motors to build the 19-inch tall robot, which also has 80 different sound effects, some of which are voiced by the character’s original actor, Peter Cullen.
Built with over 5,000 components, 60 microchips, and 27 servo motors, the 19-inch robot comes equipped with 80 different sound effects, including clips from the character’s original voice actor, Peter Cullen.
Sean Tang, director of Robosen USA, sent out a press release about the collaboration.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Hasbro and look forward to ushering in a new standard of robotics with the most advanced Transformers robots for consumers ever created.
The team is working hard to deliver an amazing user experience for fans of this esteemed franchise and produce Transformers that will be a premium addition to their collection with its superior functionality.”
