If you are a person who grew up in America, there’s a 100% chance that you understand the deal with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. People say things are as “American as apple pie,” but in reality, a love for peanut butter and jelly together between two slices of bread is the thing that binds more of us together.
And I say that as a woman who has been allergic to peanuts her entire life.
So you can imagine the genuine confusion and surprise that most of us feel at the moment we realize our beloved national sandwich just isn’t a thing elsewhere in the world.
