Dunkin Donuts Made a Ghost Pepper Donut, and We Want It to Come Back Now!

When you first hear that Dunkin’ Donuts – the king (or queen) of the uber sweet – offered a spicy ghost pepper donut, it sounds amazing, right?

After all, you realize that salty and sweet go well together, so why not give spicy and sweet a try?

Yeah… this is the stuff.

I’m here for it, honestly, because I enjoy setting my innards on fire in the name of delicious flavors.

The spice comes from their strawberry icing mixed with cayenne and ghost peppers atop a simple glazed donut.

A press release accompanied the announcement:

“Proving that the number one brand in donuts can rock a spicy side, Dunkin’ has baked up one of the most surprising treats every to rise from its kitchens, the new Spicy Ghost Pepper Donut.

The Spicy Ghost Pepper Donut will be on the menu for only a few hot minutes, available for a limited time at participating Dunkin’ restaurants nationwide until December.”

Yeah… sad story… I missed it. And I really want it to come back because, I mean, spicy stuff IS my jam.

So how’d they come up with this in the first place?

The company consulted with First We Feast series Hot Ones Sean Evans to develop what they believe is just the right amount of spice, and he has plans to sample the donut alongside a variety of hot sauces:

“In a special episode debuting on October 19, for the first time in Hot Ones history Sean will be in the hot seat, challenging himself to answer hard-hitting questions while trying Dunkin’s new Spicy Ghost Pepper Donut, complemented by a variety of hot sauces ranging from sweet to scalding from the show’s famous arsenal.”

Plenty of regular people have already tried the donut, too, and the reviews are pretty good across the board.

They’re loving it (even though it’s not McDonald’s)!

If you like spicy, it seems as if this might be something to try.

As mentioned, I didn’t get a chance to try this, so please tweet Dunkin and let them know that they HAVE to bring this back.

But that’s my problem. Maybe you were on the ball and tried the Ghost Pepper Donut?

If so, tell us your thoughts in the comments!
