French’s and Oskar Blues Is Offering a Mustard-Flavored Beer

Listen, the recent months have been so far from the status quo that I honestly believed nothing could surprise me anymore. Like…whatever this year wants to throw at me, fine – I’ll just shrug and go about my business.

I’m honestly not sure I can look the other way with this mustard-flavored beer, though, because, come on. No one even likes to eat just mustard.

No one asked me, though, and so French’s decided that the perfect BBQ beer would be something that sort of tastes like your hot dog, but alcoholic. I guess.

They announced the new offering on National Mustard Day, and revealed plans to launch a limited-edition of the craft beer on CraftShack. It will also be available at select Oskar Blues Brewery locations throughout Colorado and North Carolina.

Last year on National Mustard Day, French’s gifted (?) us with a mustard ice cream.

Said Jill Pratt, chief marketing excellence officer at French’s…

“The incredible reaction to last year’s release of our Mustard Ice Cream showed us how far people are willing to go to savor this favorite condiment.

We promise this French’s Mustard Beer will not disappoint, either.”

According to the Oskar Blues website, the beer is a “semi-tart tropical wheat beer infused with citrus fruits” like key lime, lemon, tangerine, and passionfruit that complement the “spice and zip of the mustard.”

Reviews suggest the beer is better than it sounds, stating that the mustard flavor is faint and run over by the fruit, that it’s light and summery, and actually does pair well with a hot dog.

I suppose this could be one of those “don’t knock it until you’ve tried it scenarios, but honestly…you first.
