How Fans Think C-3PO and R2-D2 Ended Up In “Indiana Jones”

If you’re someone who enjoys deep dives into places on the internet like Reddit, then you probably know that there are fan theories for just about every movie, television show, book, and mashup opportunity out there.

Even though Star Wars takes place in a galaxy far, far away and Indiana Jones is set in the 1930s (and on Earth), Reddit user MTK57 thinks he’s found a connection.

According to the theory, the Jedi found a way to contain the spirits of the last Sith Lords after Return of the Jedi and entrusted them to two faithful droids, who then transported them to a far-off planet.

It’s R2-D2 and C-3PO of course, and they encounter ancient humans in the process. We see the droids as sent from heaven and the box containing great power –  like the Ark of the Covenant.

The theory is supported by a reference to Star Wars in Raiders of the Lost Ark, where an engraving of the droid duo can be spotted near the Ark’s ancient resting place.

Most people feel as if the Easter Egg is simply a nod to George Lucas’s involvement in both films, but the people who like this theory think it’s something more.

If you’re curious, here are some more fan theories surrounding the Star Wars franchise, so please, take your time and poke around.
