If You Could Learn the Truth About One Unsolved Case, What Would It Be? Here’s What People Said.

I’ve done a lot of true crime research in my life and I’m still totally fascinated by the case of the Zodiac K**ler.

Every few years, someone claims that they’ve uncovered the identity of this notorious criminal, but we still don’t have any definitive proof of who it was more than 50 years later…

AskReddit users talked about the unsolved cases they want to know the truth behind.

Let’s see what they had to say.

1. Scary.

“Asha Degree.

A year after she disappeared, her backpack was found in a shed, not too far from the highway where she disappeared. Supposedly, among the items, were clothing that didn’t belong to her, as well as a ring that also didn’t belong to her.

Most creepy of all, there was a photograph of an unidentified girl around her age. To this day, authorities have no idea who that unidentified girl in the photograph is.”

2. Unsolved.

“The Austin Yogurt Shop M**ders.

Growing up in Austin during the 1980s and 90s was an amazing, special thing, but that event really, really shook up a lot of people.

I was 8 then and I can really remember how confused and violated everyone felt. Austin is no stranger to tragedy, but something about that case is just so utterly seedy and dirty in a way that Charles Whitman never managed.”

3. Personal story.

“My friends were k**led in 2004 in a drive-by. It was a random shooting. They were 14 and 16. No motive, no leads, no clues.

Someone just drove up to them while they were getting into a car and asked their names. Then the guy said “You know what? It doesn’t matter.”

He and the people in his vehicle pulled out g**s and unloaded on my friends. My friends d**d and 2 other kids of similar age were also injured.”

4. Can’t imagine…

“The Beaumont children.

Absolutely. The pain their parents must have felt for the rest of their lives would have been insurmountable.

I can’t imagine.”

5. Eerie.

“In 1995 6 teenaged boys went missing in my hometown.

It was St. Patrick’s Day and they had been doing some partying and went down to the local marina and stole a small boat and a water tricycle and went out onto the lake and were never seen again.

No trace of any of them was ever found, not even the boat or the water tricycle. No evidence pointed towards it being a run away situation. The investigation all together was pretty s**t and many have speculated since that the police were involved somehow and there was a cover up.”

6. Strange…

“Sneha Anne Philip..

She was a doctor who disappeared in lower Manhattan the night before 9/11.

Many, including her family, believe she d**d in the World Trade Center, but she had no reason to be there.

Some suspect her brother or husband might be hiding something, which seems likely to me.”

7. Such a weird story.

“Brian Shaffer.

I work in the building he went missing from. There’s enough plumbing issues here, if he were in a wall, some poor plumber would have found him by now.

That, along with that whole section of the building having been renovated some time ago.

There’s a river about a mile and a half away, I would bet he fell in it and unfortunately got swept away.”

8. Who was he?

“Jack the Ripper.

Even though it will be someone no one has ever heard of, would be fascinating to finally solve it.”

9. Deep waters…

“I would love to know the truth behind the strange Bermuda Triangle disappearance of U.S. Navy Flight 19.

When On December 5, 1945, five TBM Avenger torpedo bombers (and 14 airmen) went missing after departing from the Naval Air Station in Fort Lauderdale, Florida without explanation.

Then later that same day, the Navy sent out a PBM Mariner flying boat with 13 crew members to look for the missing planes. That vessel also disappeared. There’s been allot of theories but it’s still unsolved to this day.”

10. Missing kid.

“There was a kid who went missing in my hometown when I was young.

It was on the news a bit, then it kinda fizzled out and I havent been able to find anything since.

Still see flyers for him now and then.

Kyron Horman.”

11. Cold as ice.

“The Piedmont Park st**bing in Atlanta from July 2021. Completely cold.

The victim, Katie Janness, was walking her pit bull in the park after work and when she failed to turn up her partner tracked her phone and was the one who found her body, fairly close to the entrance.

Both her and her dog had been brutally st**bed to d**th. She had been st**bed around 70 times I believe and had F-A-T carved into her. Her autopsy report is online and it’s horrific.

Atlanta has the most CCTV cameras of any city in the US, 50 to every 1000 residents to be precise, and Piedmont Park is no exception, yet they apparently “didn’t work” that night.

I’m just so surprised this case didn’t get more national coverage. Haven’t heard any updates in well over a year and it’s very frustrating because this person is still out there and I don’t live far from the park. I want to see justice for her.”

12. Grandmother.

“My grandmother’s m**der.

It happened when my mother was really young. Illinois, 1980s. The story goes that my grandmother was in a club, she walks out of the club. Someone k**ls her. One shot in the head, three in the chest.

No motive, no suspicion. Had problems with my abusive great-grandmother. Her sister or cousin was Claudia I think? If I could find the truth, it would probably bring my mother peace.”
