These 10 Practices Are Nice in Theory, Not So Much in Practice

A good theory is nice, and all, but everyone who knows anything about science knows a theory isn’t worth much until it’s tested, re-tested, and other people corroborate claims about whether or not it works.

These 10 things look great on paper, but when you put them to the test in a community of humans, definitely fall flat.

10. It should be such an easy thing.

Telling people to wear a face mask during a world pandemic.

People want to carry their guns around because they’re worried about safety… but they won’t wear a simple face mask?

smh

9. We just keep making them, though, don’t we.

New Years resolutions.

Don’t get me wrong… I think it’s great making goals. But the vast majority of people never follow through OR even start them.

8. Calories in vs. calories out, right?

You can eat just about anything you want and still lose weight. To lose weight all you have to do is be in a calorie deficit–which means you have to burn more calories than you eat daily.

C.I.C.O. works for people who “manage” calorie consumption to ensure that they can burn it all. For others, it is easy to consume calorie dense foods in large quantities.

However, burning those calories, while theoretically possible, can be challenging in practice!  As someone noted: “you can’t outrun a bad diet.”

Well, you technically can, but it takes A LOT of running.

7. I mean, if you enjoy giving oxygen to a fire.

Telling your girlfriend to calm down.

Honestly, telling ANYBODY to calm down has been an issue.

I think I’ll stop doing that.

6. Little white lies are considered harmless for a reason.

Being honest 24/7 will lead you into a world of hurt…trust me.

This is coming from a guy who tends to say exactly what is on my mind and it is not fun.

5. No matter how much you want it to.

Shower s*x.

Water is the opposite of lube it turns out!

Never do that again!

4. Compromise is key.

Any pure form of government. It has to be a mix to work well. The problem is that we haven’t figured out how much of each yet.

Like, I’m pretty sure there has to be a pinch of dictatorship in it to be good but if you add too much the whole thing is ruined.

3. Do they mean breakfast in bed, or?

Breakfast in Bath!

What should be a great start to your day, combining self care and the most important meal of the day, in practice it often gets complicated at the toaster part.

ZZZZTTTT! Dead.

I’m just kidding. I haven’t died.

2. That’s life; that’s what all the people say.

“It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness; that is life.”

1. Can we all agree this doesn’t work? No?

Trickle-down economics.

Sounds great that wealthy owners get richer and give pay rises but people be greedy.

The rich get richer and people get paid the same.

Human beings are the X factor that ruins almost everything, y’all!
