This Website Promises to Help You Eat Healthy for Just $5 A Day

There are many barriers to making healthier choices when it comes to food and lifestyle, but two of the biggest are money and accessibility.

Good-for-you foods tend to be more expensive and have a shorter shelf life, which means more frequent and more expensive trips to the store.

If these and other roadblocks have been frustrating your attempts to get healthy, a website called Budget Meal Planner just might have the droids – er, answers – you’ve been looking for.

The site has a whole bunch of meals plans available to choose from. Each meal plan is healthy and includes grocery lists and recipes for seven days worth of breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, with a total cost of less than $5 a day.

The plans are broken down into different themes, including mushrooms, Thai, Tex-Mex, potato, and Mediterranean – and honestly, most of them look like they would also be pretty darn tasty.

If you’re meat-free, the site offers vegetarian takes on the same recipes (though if you’re vegan, you’ll need to swap ingedients on your own), so don’t let that hold you back.

The plans and recipes are currently free, but the site’s creator does have a Patreon if you’re willing and able to give back. If you do, they’ll be happy to take your suggestions and wish lists for new themes, too.

There’s a new themed meal plan every Friday, and if you subscribe to their newsletter, you’ll be sure not to miss out when a new one arrives.

If you’ve got a house full of adventurous eaters willing to try new things, I say give this a try. I know my grocery bill would thank me (though my credit card companies probably wouldn’t!).

And if your husband is like mine and retains the diet of his three-year-old self, I say try it for yourself. Don’t wait on someone else to get healthy before you do the same.

Happy eating!
