What Advice Do All Teenagers Need to Know? People Shared Their Thoughts.

No matter what generation they belong to, teenagers are gonna be teenagers.

And all of them can use some life advice from people who have already been there and done that.

Check out the words of wisdom that AskReddit users offered up to today’s teens.

1. Stay on top of it.

“Take care of your body in general.

Your body is way easier to maintain than it is to fix.

And speaking as some one who has spent their entire life struggling with weight problems, bad habits formed early on, stick with you for life and don’t make things easier.”

2. Risk vs. reward.

“Recognize risk versus reward.

Low risk, high reward: Ask that person out, you might have fun.
High risk, low reward: You know how many videos out there of someone who “thought it would look cool” to jump over a fire pit, only to fall in and get horrifically burned?

Don’t be stupid.”

3. Look inside.

“Practice self reflection.

I believe you can only be a version of yourself that you like, if you can be honest with yourself. If you f**k up, own it and do better next time.

If you do good, be proud and do that s**t again.”

4. It’s true.

“Most people are too busy judging their selves to judge you.

Don’t worry about what people think about you, just be true to you.”

5. Be kind!

“Just be nice to people.

You don’t have to be liked by everyone, but just dont be mean to them.”

6. It takes some time.

“I feel like I didn’t even really know who I was until my mid 20s.

You don’t realize how many different ways to be and live in this world exist until you get out in it, when you’re a teenager things feel very limited but in your 20s you realize your life is yours to create.”

7. Do it!

“Take care of your teeth!

I didn’t listen to anybody when I was a teenager and now I’m dealing with about $10,000 worth of work that needs to be done.”

8. It’s worth it.

“Get in shape and eat healthy.

This might be annoying to do and hard to keep up but it’s so important.

Long term, you’ll be thankful for being healthy and somewhat in shape.”

9. You can say NO to people.

“It’s ok to say no to anyone.

Don’t let anyone in your life guilt trip you into doing something you don’t want to do or are uncomfortable with.”

10. Go at your own speed.

“Don’t let anyone put a timetable on your life.

If you want to go to college when you’re 30 then do it.”

11. It’s all a learning process.

“You have, probably are, and will be wrong about things.

Learn to admit that you don’t know everything nor will ever know everything.”

12. Some relationship advice.

“A couple pieces of relationship advice as teens start to explore relationships and such:

No matter who you are or what you look like or what you’re into, there is someone for whom you are exactly their type.

There’s not one singular “soulmate” for you- there are tons of people out there you can and will click with.

iI’s possible to love someone and not be in love with them. It’s also possible to be in love with someone and not want to be with them, for one reason or another.

Not always, but often, s** changes things. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse and often for the more complicated. You don’t have to wait till marriage but (if you are a person who is interested in s**) you should wait till you personally are ready and are ready to accept and navigate what may come with that

The most important thing in your relationship is your relationship with yourself. You’re going to be the consistent factor in all your relationships and you’re in a lifelong partnership with yourself. So communicate with yourself. Respect yourself. Love yourself. Cultivate the relationship you want to have with others with yourself.”
