Tumblr Thread Explains Why You Should Always Give Customers Exactly What They Order

If you’ve spent any time in your life working in customer service, you’ve been made aware of the expression “the customer is always right.”

If you spent any time working for a good company and/or manager while in customer service, you’ve also learned that’s definitely not true…though if you can let the customer think it is, that’s ideal.

In the case of this thread, though, the customers – some of whom have life threatening food allergies but all of whom made legitimate and reasonable requests – should always be given exactly what they ask for. You know. So no one kills them.

It began with this movie theater employee confessing that sometimes they give people regular Coke instead of Diet.

You never know what struggles people have that you can’t see.

And also just…why?

I’m sure the manager was seeing red after being threatened with a hospital bill.

And I have to assume this employee got fired.

I am slow-clapping for the manager for doing the right thing, but I am also just so sorry for this poor girl who had to go through all of that because of one selfish employee.

Other people with dairy problems commiserated as well, along with someone with Celiac disease who gets eyerolls all the time, thanks to the gluten-free fad.

Do these people even consider what they might be doing to folks??

And also…WHY?

It’s definitely not funny, and neither is the fact that we have to have this thread because apparently being a d%*k as a server is a thing.

You really don’t want to be responsible for someone else’s pain, suffering, or death, do you?

I know I don’t.

That poor baby. I’m glad he has smart family around him.

I bet it happens all the time.

I guess we’ll all just have to keep reblogging and sharing until this shizz stops, y’all.

Too bad you can’t watch them prepare your food everywhere you go.

Please, if you bring food or drinks to people and they ask you for something special, think what you want, but follow their order.

Not only is it your job, it’s the easiest thing to do.

Trust.
