12 People Talk About What Makes Them Truly Happy

I think it’s safe to say that we’re all searching for happiness in life.

Some people find it, some don’t, and some convince themselves that they have…

Whatever you have to do to get through the day, right?

And today we’re gonna hear from folks on AskReddit who opened up about what truly makes them happy.

Let’s take a look!

1. Got it figured out.

“When I am all alone at home, I put music on and start drawing !

I feel like I am finally breathing again!

Also, going outside visiting nature and playing with my dogs and cat.”

2. I’m a big fan!

“Driving alone on an empty road with good scenery.

It puts a big smile on my face.”

3. Memories…

“Watching nostalgic videos about the games I used to play.

I get sad and happy because of all the memories I made and now they are all gone I don’t have pictures or videos deleted them ages ago but now I regret it and all I have is my mind.”

4. I want you to want me.

“Being wanted.

Not only romantically, but having people pay attention and want my attention at parties and outings/work etc.

I grew up with a socially a**sive parent; left a hole. I feel terrible leaving a place after no one walked up to talk to me.”

5. Let’s have some quiet.

“Quiet time. As a father and husband, I am constantly surrounded by people who want to always have the TV on, games on, speakers on. I am so tired of noise.

When my wife and daughter leave for a day I don’t turn anything on except my computer where I either work or go on social media, watch a few YT videos or play a game with no other sounds or distractions. With coffee, of course.”

6. Pump it up!

“The gym.

So underrated but it’s ability to improve mental health over a long period of time is amazing, even outside of physical gain.”

7. That’s good.

“Running.

I h**e it and love it simultaneously.

Also, weed.”

8. Warm and fuzzy.

“My SO’s smile and slight lisp.

He doesn’t smile for everyone, and his learned smile is more of a grin, and he’s taught himself to not have a lisp, but when it’s just us and we’re talking about things and he gets excited or we’re just messing around he has a very slight lisp and his smile is just beautiful it’s this huge grin and I feel so warm inside.

Even thinking about it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.”

9. Love it!

“The sound of water.

Rushing rivers, crashing of waves, gurgling streams, fountains… makes me feel connected to nature and something bigger than me.

When I’d gone scuba diving, I realized just how vast and powerful water is – makes you feel like you’re a small part of this world and that you can’t control it.

Night diving was probably the most heightened experience I’d ever had – it’s thrilling in that it’s so scary and rewarding at the same time.”

10. Escape.

“Escapism, like just reading or going to the park with friends.

Just the most random books i can find like the Temeraire series by Naomi Novik or The Book Theif by Markus Zusak.

Though it what makes me even happier is to read the entirety of Time After Time by Karl Alexander with my friend and laugh at every weird thing H.G Wells does.”

11. A simple life.

“To not have any serious and stringent problems.

Having a boring life, with food to eat, a comfy shelter, and the people I love around me.”

12. All by yourself.

“Solitude. I need long stretches without any social plans.

I’m grateful to have people in my life that love me, but it’s frustrating when I can’t go a week or even a few days without agreeing to meet up with someone, knowing that turning them down or saying I just need to be alone will upset them.

I guess it’s a good problem to have, and I recognize that I’m blessed in a way a lot of people aren’t, but I think a solid month without talking to anyone would do wonders for my anxiety.”
