A Future to Live For: Pokémon GO Contact Lenses!

You put down your phone, look up, and right there in your line of vision sits a Pikachu. On your couch. It looks as real as can be, with no technology other than what is in your eye. Sounds amazing, right?

According to Niantic CEO John Hanke, this could be a reality in the future. He wants to develop contact lenses that would immerse you in the world of Pokémon.

These smart contact lenses would allow you to play the game in the real world without ever touching your phone. Following in Ash’s footsteps would never feel more real.

“It is going to be created in our lifetime,” Hanke reported to the LA Times.

Hanke has already worked with Google on creating Google Glass and is considered a pioneer in the Augmented Reality (AR) sector of technology. He is very excited to partner with, and invest in, start-ups to help develop and popularize the technology, and he wants to use the enormous popularity of Pokémon GO as a selling point.

Can you even imagine how real video games would feel with this technology? Horror games would literally scare people to death!
